THE PARISIAN STUDIO.

There was a very happy gathering of young people at the Parisian DancingStudio in Whitehall Buildings on Saturday evening, when a series of summer dances was inaugurated. The cool and well-appointed studio gave a charming atmosphere for the frocks worn by the dancers. The Parisian Orchestra, with Mr. Harry Bolton conducting, played an attractive programme of syncopated dance music. Miss Violet Brooks, who acted as hostess, wore, a frock of cream and lemon Milanese. Among others present were: Mrs. H. Bolton, wearing palest green georgette; Mrs. Reid, carnation taffeta; Misses D. Schick, lime green ehiffon, frilled; B. Schick, lemon georgette, flounced; E. A pleasant afternoon was spent on Saturday, when the Ellerslie Croquet Club held their official opening. The president, Mrs. Christmas, received the guests wearing a frock of black crepe de chine relieved with lemon and lemon net. Among the visitors were a number for the adjacent clubs. Progressive croquet was played, Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Hickson carrying off the A prizes, and Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Richmond the B prizes. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the Misses Christmas.

WAIKATO NOTES. Miss Bailey, of Westport, is the guest of Miss Christophers at Cambridge. Mrs. F. Mander has returned to Hamilton, after taking part in the golf tournament at Middlemore. Mrs. Hart and Miss M. Hart, of Cambridge, are on a visit to Napier. Mrs. V. Chitty, of Claudelands, is on a visit to Whangarei. Miss Boberts, of Rotorua, is on a visit to Cambridge. Mrs. W. A. Keiley, of Wellington/ has been staying in Hamilton. Miss M. Howden hag. returned to Hamilton from a visit to Opotiki. Mrs. M. Mooney, of Horotiu, has left on a visit of several months to Canada and England. Mrs. Davidson, of Botorua, has been on a visit to Cambridge. Mrs. and Miss Souter, of Cambridge, are visiting relative? at Epsom. Mrs. C. A. Arthur, of Te Aroha, has been staying in Auckland. Mrs. Stone has returned to Takapuna from a visit to Cambridge. Mrs. J. B. Bichards, of Stratford, has been staying in Hamilton. Mrs. W. Batt, of Hamilton, was a competitor in the golf tournament at Middlemore. Mrs. J. H. Hammond and Miss E. Hammond have returned to Hamilton from a holiday spent at Mon Desir, Takapuna. Mrs. D. Hay has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Grant, of Tc Kuiti,. is visiting relatives at Glen Massey. Mrs. E. Walders, of Hamilton, is away on a visit to Christchurch. Mrs. A. B. Shera has: returned to Kawliia, after being the guest of Mrs.- P. B. Jolly, Windermere, Hamilton. Mrs. Neale, of Nelson, is the guest of Mrs. O'Sullivan, at Pukemiro. Mrs. C. Gibbons, of Frankton, is on a visit to her sister, Mrs. Harper, at Wanganui. Mrs. F. Chester, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. J. E. Bell, Morrinsville. Miss E. Carter, who has been staying at Matamata, has returned to Wliangarei. Mrs. A. Adams, of New Plymouth, has been staying in Hamilton. Miss E. Ritchie, of Hamilton, is on a visit to Helensville. Miss M. Beale, of Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs. W. Robbie, at Tauranga.

A very enjoyable organ recital was given by Mrs. E. V. Stace in St. Peter's Cathedral on Thursday, c Other items were given by members of the Lyceum Musical Circle. After the recital the members of the circle were entertained at afternoon tea at the of Mrs. H. J. Ferguson, convener of the circle. Those present were: Mesdamcs E. V. Stace, J. Ji Stanadrim, J. McKinnon, F. W. Pinfold, A. English, J. Farquhar, E. Bouillion, G. K. Siuclair, H. J. McMullin, G. F. Sherley, A. "W. Sims, and Miss Jones. I

A most successful dance was held in the hall at Pukemiro on Wednesday, in aid of the funds of the Girl Guides. The members of the patrol danced a ballet and two folk dances. Those present were: Mesdames Arnold, J. Walker, Hedley, Wormald, McLiskcy, Lawson, White, Grey, Webster, Kerr, Holmes, Kennedy, Wilcox, Allen,' Saul, J. A. Kelly, Dunn, W. x Jcfi'arson, Moloney, T. A fancy dress dance was held in the Maeroa Anglican Hall on Thursday, when there was a' good attendance of residents present. Those present were: Mesdames Brain, Bunting, Bennett, Elliott, Magnal, P. Elliott, Marquand, Armitage, Irving, Woodhcad, Chine, Buckland-, Absolum, Salisbury, Mallett, Mkses Walsh, GurnelL, K. Woodhead, Garraway, Findlay, P. Chine, Magnell, E. Eindlay, Westney, Knight, Kemp, Murray, Reid, N. Salisbury.

The .wedding was solemnised on Wednesday, October 23, at the home of Miss H. Prentis, River Koad, Hamilton, of Ursula, only daughter' of Mrs. P. J. Nicholls, of Hamilton, and Mr. Reginald Francis, only son of Mrs, M. A. Kelly, Claudclands. The pride wore an ivory ring velvet gown and handsome embroidered tulle veil. Her bouquet' was white lilac and freesias. Miss TJielma Scotney attended the bride, and her frock was mist blue georgette. Her hat was blue straw with posies of flowers, and a bouquet of sweet peas and azaleas was carried. The best man was Mr. H. E. Davis, of Hamilton. The Rev. H. G. Gilbert performed the ceremony. After the marriage a reception was held at the Centreway Tea Rooms, where guests were received by- the bride's mother. Those present were: Mesdames Taylor (Westport), W. Sharkey (Whakatane), A., Lemon (Auckland), Misses 11. Prentis, E. Kelly. Later in the day the bride and bridegroom left by motor car on their wedding tour. The bride travelled in an ensemble of rose satin beaute and small lace straw iat to match.
