MIDWIFERY SCHOOLS.
NOT TO BE RESTRICTED. ASSURANCE BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph*—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Aα assurance that there is no cause for alarm in connection with the suggestion of Dr. Watt to the executive of the Hospital Boards' Association that midwifery training should be restricted to the four St. Helens hospitals in the main centres of the Dominion, has been telegraphed to the Whangarei Hospital Board by Mr. Murdoch, Chief Government Whip, member for Marsden. That board took strong exception to the suggestion at its last meeting, and decided to protest to the Minister of Health and the Hospital Boards' Association. Mr. Murdoch telegraphed to-night: "There is no cause for alarm. I have discussed this question on several occasions with the Minister of Health, and have his assurance that no such change is contemplated, nor would it be tolerated. The Minister has the highest opinion of the value of training at Whangarei Hospital, which stands second to none in New Zealand."
