OLD COLONISTS.
In your report of the annual reunion of old colonists I notice some very old names, well known to me, who came in the Duchess of Argyle and the Jane Gifford in 1842, but you did not recall one name of-any of the old hands of 1847 who came to guard and defend those earlier settlers. It is on record the old Royal New Zealand Fencibles was one of the first units to be called on to stay an attack on Auckland. In an hour Major Kenny had them mustered and on the march to the point of action. Why are not these old Fencibles and settlers remembered? Surely they did as much in colonising as any others. Are there no nam ft s or records of these hardy old soldiers kept, and if not, why not? I hope the management of the Old Colonists', Association will look inio this oversight and mention them at next reunion. ■'BBeCODNI3!ANI?'' / Or--^Br--«ft-
