YEARLINGS FOR AUSTRALIA.

Nine mares and yearlings purchased by the Kia Ora studmaster, Mr. P. Miller, during his recent trip to England have arrived in Sydney and are undergoing quarantine. They appear a very promising lot. It is Mr. Miller's intentions to have three trained. One is a bay yearling colt by Obliterate (son of Tracery) from Royal Pearl, a half-sister to Eastern Monarch, winner of the St. Leger, and, tnerefore, comes from the same family as Galtee More and Ard Patrick. Another is Tendresse, a yearling- sister to Fondness, by the Sunstar horse Somme Kiss from a sister to the successful New Zealand sire Paper Money (imp.). The third is First Away, a three-year-old chestnut filly by Stedfast (sire of The Night Patrol) from a mare by Neil Gow, who traces back to St. Simon's sister, Angelica. The maree for the stud are as follow:— Chestnut yearling filly by Gal Crusader from Phi-Phi, by Stedfast from Bongo,, by Dark Ronald; Pashmina, chestnut mare, 4 years, by Westward Ho from Carlinetta, a half-sister to Demonetises, by St. Petersburgh from a halfsister to the dam of Sunstar and Princess Dorrie; Thasia, bay mare, eio-ht years, by Cicero from Grey Fly, °by Friary, and running back to tihat great mare Busy Body; Chaptrel, bay filly, two years, by Son-in-law from Neuve Chapelle, a half-sister by Sunstar to Friar Marcus; Athenais, bay filly, three years, by Hurry On from Vaucluse winner of the One Thousand Guineas, by Dark Ronald; Great Speech, bay mare, five.years by Valens from Statira, by Sunstar from a daughter of Volumnia, half-sister to Isoletta, the dam of Bayardo and Lemberg, and ancestress of Picaroon and My Dear. Thasia is in foal to Winalot, a well-bred son of Son-in-law, and Great Speech is in foal to Son-in-Law.
