TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE.
BANKS STILL SELLING. BUT AT LOWER PRICES. The demand for bank shares at lower levels still continues, and as holders are still inclined 'to sell there has been quite a good turnover since the "Star went to press yesterday. ■ Commercials had hung fire for a few days, and to effect sales owners dropped their reserves, bringing a transfer late yesterday at £1 8/1%. A slight recovery was made this morning. with a sale at £1 8/3, after which buyers remained ai £1 7/11. This is the lowest price that has ruled for this scrip for a considerable period. , , , Milne and Choyce s shares have been neglected for a week, and this morning buyers came forward with tentative offers at £1 5/6, but the market quickly responded and raised the bids to £1 6/6, without business resulting. Another 1/ call on Taranaki Oil shares has been announced. The Noon Call. Business slowed down definitely during the course of the morning, and the noon call found only two minor sales to add to the record. Commercial Bank still sh'owed weakness with buyers dropping another Id, and Bank of New Zealand fell back to buyers at £2 19/10. The market as a whole seemed dull. In Government stocks three parcels were offered, s%'s (1933) at £101 15/, inscribed 4%'s (1938) at £100 12/6, and s%'a (1933) at £101 10/. Interest Rates.
