i '1 did not mean to steal the stores, I thought they were my own," said Francis William Lugg (24), a trimmer off the s.s. Tairoa. when he was charged, at the Police Court this morning, with the theft of two tins of jam belonging to the Shaw, Savill and Albion Line. Evidence was given that Lugg was accosted by a Customs officer as he was leaving the wharf with the two 71b tins of jam yesterday.
