RAILWAY MISHAPS.

Three railway accidents happened on the Auckland section last evening, one of which was more "serious than tho other, two. , • ■ • • , • > First, of -all a .passenger train was backing into iNo." 2' siding at the Auckland station; It was proceeding at' a fair pace, and a misjudgment caused/the van on the back to collide with a .heavy concrete stop block. The impact was severe enough to shift the block' off its foundations. Damage was also, caused to the- van's undergear as well as buffers. Workmen were engaged in repairing tho damage this morning. A . main line derailment "was the second accident. This was between Eureka 'and Ruakura Junction, ion tlie Rotonia-Frahkt'on line. A wagon,: laden with butter for the Southdown Freezing works, left the rails and delayed all traffic between Morrinsville and-'jElamil-ton for nearly two hours. The accident happened ,on the' train which" v leaves Rotprua at . 3.1.0 p.ni;, and arrives at Franktonat 9,20-p.m. It was a/'goods train-with a.second-class passenger car attached. The Rotorua,-Franktoii fast train, which Rotorua shortly before : 5 o'clock to . connect with the Daylight. Limited and other-express trains was not affected. The third accident last evening, happened to an engine "at Hikurangi. Shunt,ing. operations, were being carried out on; abiding -when an -axle on -the'engine collapsed. No serious delay was occasibried~by" tho mishap.
