LOWEST ON RECORD.
BIRTH-RATE LAST YEAR. SMALLEST NUMBER SINCE 1919 MORE BOYS THAN GIRLS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. New Zealand's birth-rate last year was the lowest ever recorded. There were 27,200 births, the smallest number since 1919. Of the babies born, 14,082 were-boys and 13,118 were girls. There- were 273 cases of twin births, 546 children, in 1928, and there Avere four cases of triplets. In 95 cases of twin births in 1928 both children were boys, and in 71 cases both were girls.
In the four cases of triplets, all three children.were boys in one case, all'.were girls in another, two were boys in the third case, and two were girls in the fourth.
