AWE-INSPIRING SIGHT.
Steamer Blown Up In Dock At Liverpool. NEARBY SHIP DAMAGED. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association./ (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 15. There was an awe-inspiring spectacle at Liverpool when the French steamer Oklahoma, laden with cotton, nitrate and sugar, caught fire. There was a series of terrific explosions, which broke her back, and as she was sinking with a rush, a solid wall of flame rose 200 feet high. Flying debris damaged the deck and fittings of the Buteshire, which was loading for Australia. The Buteshire herself was momentarily in danger, but the crew averted fire.
