STEAMERS GO SOUTH. PORT MELBOURNE LOADS Most of the overseas steamers which have been in port since the beginning of the week are now getting away. The Remuera was dispatched for Wellington last night, and the Tredinnick followed her at daybreak to-day. The Canadian Explorer, whicli arrived from Montreal on Monday, is to sail for the South this afternoon. The departure of the Tairoa for southern ports has been postponed to to-morrow morning. With passengers, mails and cargo from London and Southampton, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Corinthic is due at Wellington on Tuesday next. Thence she is to come to Auckland to complete discharge. TAMAROA RETURNING. To continue loading for London, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Tamaroa arrived at Napier from Lyttelton yesterday afternoon, and she is expected to leave there at 10 p.m. to-day for Auckland. On her arrival here on Friday morning, she will berth at the Queen's wharf to lift local cargo, and she is announced to sail at daybreak on Tuesday for Wellington, her final •P.ort., Taking passengers and mails as well as cargo, she is to leave- Wellington for Southampton and London on October 30. TAIROA DELAYED. The departure of the Shaw, Savlll and Albion steamer Tairoa for Wellington, in continuation of her voyage from Liverpool, has been postponed to daybreak to-morrow. WAIPAHI'S MOVEMENTS. Now loading at Lyttelton, the Union Co.'s steamer Waipahi is to leave therr on Friday next for Auckland. She is scheduled to leave here on October 22 for Ap.a to load fruit for Auckland. TAHITI FROM 'FRISCO. Running a day behind schedule, the Union Co.'s R.M.s. Tahiti is due at Wellington from San Francisco, Papeete and Rarotonga next Tuesday, and she is announced to resume her voyage to Sydney at 4 p.m. the following day. WAIHEMO'S ITINERARY. With lumber,' case oil and general cargo from San Francisco, the Union Co. s steamer Waihemo is due at Auckland about Tuesday next. From Samoa and Niuc, the Government motor ship Maui Pomare arrived at Dunedi'; yesterday morning, and sailed again in the afternoon for Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. She is expected to clear Lyttelton to-night and Wellington ol _ Friday, arriving here next Sunday. Spedding, Ltd., announce lier to sail for Norfolk Island at 5 p.m. on Monday. MAPIIA BRINGING EXPLOSIVES. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahia, which left London last Saturda;. for Auckland, Wellington and Napier, has, in addition to general cargo, 430 tons < explosives to discharge at the Motuili: anchorage before coming into port. She is to leave Suva on Monday, and is due here on October 25. Passengers for Sydney will transfer to the Marama, which leaves here the same day. The Moeraki has been engaged in the SydneyFiji passenger and cargo service under charter to the Australian United Steam Navigation' Company since July, 1928. How long she will be at Auckland and what steamer will relieve her in the Fiji service has not been announced.

MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Sir. R. Allison, third officer of the Kaiwarra, has resigned from the service, and Mi'. A. S. Harrhy lias been appointed to succeed him. Mr. H. E. Petre is joining the Kanna as third officer, relieving Mr. C. F. Gaby, who is transferring to the Kaponga in a similar capacity. Mr.. R. Watson lias been granted liolidaya at Wellington. Mr. C. E. B. Carter has been appointed third officer of the Kurow, in place of Mr. F. W. Bales, who is transferring to tho Kaiapoi in a similar .capacity, relieving Mi. A. S. Fergusson for holidays. Mr. F. J. Cochrane, second officer of the Ngatoro, is Joining tho Kartigi in a similar capacity. Mr. C. T. Robb, late of the Kartigi, has, relieved Mr. W. A. Todd as second officer of the Kaitoke. Captain G. ( A. Grey is now in command of the Kurow, and Captain W. Whitefleld is now in command of the Kartigi.
