MINING.
Alburnia.—The manager reports that the drive north on the main Orlando lode from the crosscut at the winze, lias been extended a total distance of 214 ft. The reef averages 18in in width, but is split up anil mixed with mullock. The rise on the cross leader from the drive north on the hangin"wall branch of Orlando lode is up a totai of 21ft. The leader averages Sin and carries mineral blende, ruby, silver, silica, as well as showing strong: colours of gold. At the Whau level the drive hillward on the Sons of Freedom reef was cleaned for 50ft, when the crosscut was met with from Dixon's reef. As the crosscut was all broken down, work was stopped at this point. Next week the men will start driving hill ward on the footwall dropper off Sons of Freedom reef. Gold Seekers.—The manager reports re this property (formerly the Four-in-Hand) that the rise on the Cuirassier reef is now up 19ft from the intermediate level. The reef averages 6in of quartz which shows colours of gold. Several nice specimens were secured after the last breaking-down.
