DEVON PORT SCHOOL'S RECORD.

A splendid season in hptli Rugby and Soccer football has been experienced by the Devonport Public school this year. The results would indicate that it 1= possible for two codes to be played witn success in the one school. In the senior Soccer championship the school went through without a loss. The team were the winners of the \ ietoria Park group and went on to pla.y Gratton, the winners of the Domain croup, in the final, the result being a further win for Devonport by three goals to one. This victory gave Devonport the public schools championship of Auckland. The play right through was of a very hi£h standard and two boys gained representative honours, both playing with ri*-' ' in the team ... inch visited Wellington. In the Rugby co,.. t .. ..uns both the teams performed with credit. In the local competition for the Napier Bronze the seniors tied for first place, but were defeated in the play-off. The juniors were more successful, however, going right through without defeat. After winning the North Shore section they played off with the winners of the three city groups, defeating in succession ilount Eden. Richmond Road and Papatoetoe. The first match with the latter ended in a draw with no score. In the final play-off the Devonport boys showed good form and in the last quarter scored two tries, which gave them a t> —0 win. This is the first occasion on which Devonport has won the junior competition, which carries with it the Rupert Moore ;>lemorial Shield.
