Great Charter is working freely on the track and shows no signs of the lameness that aifected him at Auckland. He looks to have benefited by his trip north. All improved youngster here is Watch Officer, who ran third in the Avondale Stakes, and on that form he should now be capable of testing the best in the Wellesley Stakes at Wellington. Gascony pulled up iame last week after galloping a fast once round, but the trouble does not appear to be serious and he should be seen out at the Wellington meeting. /Ponjola is intended for the Waikato Steeplechase and at present is jumping in his usual faultless style. Ponjola ran a very creditable racc in the hurdles at the last Hawke's Bay meeting and has a very consistent record this season. Simba, who has not done anything strenuous since the Hawke's Bay meet- [ ing, has furnished into a very, nicelooking two-year-old and has given his trainer, Luke Wilson, every satisfaction. Mountain Heath is coming back to form and, as he showed last season, he is a pretty useful performer when right.
