THIRD- WHALING SHIP.
BOUND FOR ROSS. SEA. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The whaling factory ship C. A. Larsen, which is the third Norwegian.,whaler to visit Wellington within a week, arrived in the stream at . 110011 to-day from Sandejord, Norway, via Panama and San Pedro. She is owned by the Rosshavet Whaling Company, which operates the Sir James Clark Ross. ' : ' The C. A."Larson was overhauled at Sandeford and sailed from there 011 August • 10.' Captain' Oscar Neilsen is master of the vessel and his-officers are: Chief, Mr. A. Chris ten sen; second, Mr. J. Jacobsen; .third, Mr. B. Hansen; fourth, Mr. O. Olsen; surgeon, Dr. Syerr'e Sorsdal;- chief .engineer, Mr. C. Varild. Mr. J. Johansen, formerly chief officer, has . been appointed master of the whaling factory ship Viking, which operates froni the South Shetland Islands'. While at Wellington the C. A. Larsen will take on board 2560 tons of fresh water, 100 live v slieep, four live cattle, four tons of frozen beef; loOOlb of frozen fish arid fresh eggs and .vegetables.-. An endeavour is beiiig made to get her away, on Thursday morning for Paterson's Inlet, where she will be joined by her chasers, and she will then proceed to w tlie Ross Sea. She is expected to arrive back at Wellington in March. '
