VISIT TO GISBORNE.
FAVOURABLE IMPRESSION.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
GISBORNE, this day
The Auckland aeroplanes' aviationproinotion flight made an 'excellent impression on the Gisborne public despite the repeated postponements of the arrival of the planes, due to bad weather and tho lack of hangar facilities in Gisborne.
The visitors gave much interesting information that should be valuable in the development of the scheme to level and equip as an aerodrome an area that is now under offer for the purpose. They described the proposed aerodrome as offering first-class possibilities and emphasised the wisdom of providing a field before expecting to get into the air. Another necessity stressed by the visitors was that of hangars, which could shelter visiting machines any time.
The argument was advanced that Gisbonie is a natural stopping place for any aerial tourists 011 each coast and that the lack of other communications would favour the promotion of aerial transport between Poverty Bay and the main centres.
