THE SYNOD ENDS.
WORK AMONG CHILDREN.
SUNDAY SCHOOL EXPERT.
"That in view of the paramount importance of work amongst children Synod approves of the principle of appointing an expert in Sunday school work, in accordance with the recommendation of the Archbishop in his charge, and asks the standing committee to use every endeavour so that such an appointment may be made," read a resolution adopted last night by Synod, at its closing session, on the motion of the Rev. E. E. Bamford. He pointed out that there were something like 20,000 children of Sunday school age in the district, and every endeavour should be made to influence them through the Sunday schools. Out of a large number of teachers, pnly an infinitesimal number were trained", and to-day the trained teacher was a necessity. In both Wellington and Canterbury dioceses excellent results had been obtained through the appointment of an expert who could go round the various schools and give advice and instruct the teachers in Lhe best methods.
Among other motions passed were those calling attention to the importance of Foreign Mission work, the Missions to Seamen, the Church of England Immigration Society, and the Social Service Board.
