DIED IN HIS SLEEP.
NAVAL PENSIONER'S END.
NO INQUEST NECESSARY.
John Edward Lewis, who was a widower and an Imperial Navy pensioner, was found dead at 6.25 last evening, iii his room at an apartment house, 46, Summer Street, Ponsonby. Lewis was last heard in his room at 11 p.m. on Sunday night. As he was not seen yesterday, another boarder went to his room at 6.25 p.m., and there found Lewis dead in bed. He was lying in a natural position and had evidently died in his sleep. Dr. Johnson, who had been attending deceased, has given a certificate that death was due to heart disease, so an inquest will not be necessary.
