REVIEW OF GOVERNMENT'S WORK.
The Junior United Political Organisation held the second general meeting of the winter session last night. The chairman, Mr. E. Clifton Clarke, presided over a large attendance of members. Within three months of taking office Sir Joseph "Ward had brought the State Advances up to date and had abolished the c.o.d. system, said the chairman. He had stopped the construction on two big railway projects which would have proved to be an economic loss to the country. It was decided to forward a resolution expressing complete confidence in Sir Joseph Ward and the' Government, and expressing the hope that he would soon be restored to complete health. Further activities were fully discussed, it being decided that the council should try and make arrangements to enable the members to make tours of inspection to the various factories and other undertakings in and around Auckland. A trip to Arapuni is to be arranged. The summer activities are to take the form of sport. Swimming relay teams will take part in inter-club races. A tennis club has been formed, with a. strong membership. The Model Parliament will continue in session for a short while longer and will then go into recess until next winter. . . ... ' A debate will be staged on October 30 against the Forensic Debating Society, the subject being: "That the future of the world rests with the Asiatics." The organisation will take the affirmative, and the speakers will be Messrs. E. J. V. Dyson, Maxwell .S. Walker, J. E. Beachen; floor speakers, Messrs. V. W. Simmonds, S. Johnson, A. G. Wilson, W. McAra G. Foy and H. G. St. V. Beechey.
