STRANDED STEAMER.
German Liner Explodes Near Minicoy Island. ALL CREW SAVED. {United Service.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) , COLOMBO, October 14. The German, cargo liner.. Hochst, exploded off Minicoy Island, where she has been stranded on a reef for twenty days. Fire raged and'the. erew of "2S= took to the lifeboats, after sending a radio S.O.S. The liner Mathura rushed to the rescue and saved all.the crew. The Hochst wireless was sent only just in time, a second explosion blowing the transmitter to pieces. There is no news of the captain of the German liner Lauterfels, now on the reef. Three attempts to tow her off have failed. The Lauterfels had one woman passenger. She donned a boiler suit, was lowered by ropes to a lifeboat and was taken on board a passing liner.
