CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.

TOURNEY AT MIDDLEMOKE.

The Auckland champion" of champions tournament will be played at the Middlemore links on November 9, being a medal play competition over 3G holes, bringing together a representative field of club champions of. Auckland. It is expected that eight - clubs will be represented, and the organiser, Mr. Geo. Brown, of Akaraiia Club", hopes that the tournament will become a regular fixture. A 20guinea cup has been secured for the winner of the competition. Mr. A. Rh'mcl, of the Auckland Club, has associated him-

self with the run* ning of the tournament, and will make the draw for the morning and afternoon rounds, play starting at 10 a.m: and 2 p.m. The Auckland Club is assisting the event, and.has given permission to competitors to play on the links, free of green fees, for,a week prior to the tournament, and has extended an invitation to members of other clubs interested in the competitors to be present on November 9 as speculators. The draw for the competition will be published later.

PUPUKE CLUB

EVERfiLIE CLUB.

The gold medal competition, the final match of which was played by the Everslie Club on Saturday, is as follows:—Freeman averages 7">: Hobson. 76.5: Dvkcs, 70.6; J. O'Neill. 75.3: Rice. 70.6: Wardell. 81.4: T. G. Smith. 82.2; Rhind. 82.3: R. O'Neill, 83.4; Hogan, 54.3: Busing, 54.5; McDonald, 84.8: A. G. Smith, 56.5; The ninth and concluding challenge for the competition- badges resulted in a win for the holders, Bepehey and Brewer, 1 up at the twentieth green. This is' a foursome handicap match play event, and has proved very popular throughout the season. The official closing of the links will be held on Saturday next, when mixed foursomes will he played, commencing at 1.30. On Saturday and Monday. October 26 and 28. an amateur open tournament'is to be held. The events nfe a cup event for the best gross score over three rounds, a junior event for the best net score over the three rounds- for players on a handicap of 17 or over, two handicap medal rounds, and a handicap bogey competition. Play will commence on Saturday at 1.30.
