A DOMINION STATUS. Lord Irwin To Take Back The Joyful News. BRITISH POLICY OUTLINED. (United Service.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 13. The "Sunday Times" says that Lord Irwin. Viceroy of India, before returning' to India, last Thursday, was in close consultation ivith the Government regarding- India's future and soon after resuming the Yiccrovalty a fortnight hence, he will make an important announcement regarding his future policy and also simultaneously that of the British Parliament. It will be made dear that the Government adheres to the 1927 declaration, and it will be laid down in set terms that Dominion status for India is the goal to be aimed at when conditions are practicable. It is expected that Captain Wedgwood IScnn, Secretary of State for India, will ,ao to India in Ihe winter to arrange a round-table conference at which all chiides of Indian opinion will be represented. It is understood that Lord Irwin's statement, while not anticipating or not prejudicing the Simon Commission report, will give a general indication of the lines of advance contemplated.
