BAPTIST ASSEMBLY.

CHILDREN'S HOME VISITED. BIBLE CLASS RALLY. An interesting account of the work done by the Manurewa Children's Home was given by the president of the board of trustees, Mr. F. W. Gaze, when about 300 people attended the president's reception in connection with the New Zealand Baptist Union Assembly at the home on Saturday. Since the establishment of the home at Bemuera in 1593, said Mr. Gaze, 500 children had passed through its doors. The property at Manurewa, which had been'taken over twenty years ago, was now free of debt and was still growing under the supervision of a board representative of all Baptists. Many of the children, Mr. Gaze said, were doing well at the Manurewa district school. It was hoped in a few years that a small chapel would be built in the grounds, if-there was no established Baptist Church in the district. Mr, W. R. Ellingham also spoke. Hymns and novelty items were given by the older children. The principal fixture in yesterday's programme was the Bible class rally in the Tabernacle. Singing was led by Mr. L. A. North, and a short address on the results of the Bible class movement was given by the Rev. H. Elridge, of Dunedin. Baptist President. In Friday's report of the assembly meetings it was inadvertently stated that Mr. S. Barry, the retiring president', had taken up new duties in Australia. The fact was that Mr. Barry took up the position IS months ago, when the president removed to Australia. Mr. Barry has now retired, and the Sev. J. W. Kemp has succeeded him.
