FALCON CUP FINAL.

CHAMPIONS WIN AGAIN. MANUREWA OUTPLAYED IN ROUSING GAME. THREE GOALS TO NIL. Defeating Manurewa by three goals to nil at Blandford Park on Saturday, Tramways Avon the Falcon Cup for the fourth year in succession, and set the seal on one of their best and most consistent seasons. It was an interesting match, science and combination, as represented by the champions, being opposed by the vigorous and thrustful methods of the suburban side, and although the Tramway men had been seen to greater advantage wlien facing more methodical opponents they were nevertheless full value for their win. Manuwera are far and away the most promising of the teams in the junior grades, and their leadership of the Senior B division has been well earned. Right nobly have the ycarried the B banner against senior opposition this season, and their success is particularly encouraging inasmuch as the great majority of the team arc youngsters and are as keen as mustard in the Soccer cause. They will be seen out once more before the season closes, for they have qualified for the final of the Thistle Cup, ill which they will be opposed appropriately enough by Thistle Club. The match will be played by floodlight at Blandford Park on Wednesday evening, and a good crowd is expected to see the wind-up of the season. As already indicated, Saturday's match afforded an instance of science versus dash. Science prevailed without much difficulty, but a different tale might have had to be hold if Manurewa had exploited the vigorous methods of the second half m the early stages of the first. They worked hard enough in all conscience, but their attacks lacked cohesion, and broke in vain against the

rock-like defence of Christie and his colleagues, and when Tramways scored their second goal there was never much danger of them being defeated. The goal aforesaid was one of the prettiest seen at Blandford Park this season. Spencer picked up a pass from Fyvie and worked his way through, but was too closely shepherded to shoot. He managed to get a neat transference out to Spong, and the winger beat the opposing full-back in great style, to run almost to the line and drop in a lovely centre. Williams, on the far wing, was unmarked, and ho timed the flying ball to perfection, meeting it with his head and turning it into the net well out of the 'keeper's reach. Tramways continued to play cool and methodical football, and the visitors' goal was subjected to heavy pressure up ti'l half-time, but a sturdy defence prevailed. The 'Rewa boys were evidently in tiptop condition, for they played harder than ever in the second half, and the pace was a cracker right up to the close. Anderson, Palmer and IT. Donaldson were tremendous foragers in the front line, and Lees, a jrlutton for work, never lost his pace and never faltered in courage, though his footwork was occasionally lacking in accuracy, and he copied the only fault in the work of his vis-a-vis, Christie, in putting the ball too much in the air. Spencer did not play one of his best games for Tramways, but the front lino was always well together, and the defence gave nothing away. The curtain-raiser produced a rousing tussle between North Shore and Comrades' for the filial of the Fourth Grade knock-out competition, Shore winning by three goals to two. The decider was scored by Cowic a few minutes from the close.
