NORTHLAND MEETING.
ACCEPTANCES CLOSE TO-MORROW,
The annual meeting of the Northland Trotting Club takes place on Saturday next, and everything promises well for a, successful gathering. The handicaps were issued this morning, and owners should remember that acceptances close to-morrow at 5 p.m. with the secretary, Mr. A. F. Thomson, Wliangarei, or with Messrs. Blomfield and Co., High Street. Auckland, or the secretary of the Waikato Trotting Club.
NOT IN RACE.
In all the published lists of acceptances in the Auckland papers Cornelian, 24yds, figured in the Stewards' Handicap. As this race was the second "leg" of the double, and possibly some backers supported Cornelian early, it might be worth noting that the official race card shows that it was Concertina and not Cornelian that was among the acceptors.
DEATH OF CIIOYSA,
GOOD OFFER RECENTLY REFUSED
While the Messrs. McKendrick Bros, were being congratulated in possessing a srood filly in First Flight, who won the Frankton Handicap on Saturday, the owners had earlier in the morning experienced a stroke of bad luck when they lost Choysa, a four-year-old fillv by Blue Mountain King—Lou Diilon. The owner rated Choysa very highly, and they had every reason to do so. as in her last start, the Juvenile Handicap, for three-year-olds, at Addington in February, she ran Lindbergh to a length in 3.27 4-5, Choysa's time being 3.20. More than one offer was made for the filly, but was turned down, and only a week ago she could have been sold for £500, but the owners would not do business at the price.
DRIVER FINED
After the Visitors' Handicap on Saturday, F. TV. Smith, driver of Gold Cast, was' fined £■'> for interference with the winner, Great Parrish.
