ATHENIAN CLUB.

■ Mr. and Mrs. Norman Newdick were host and hostess at the Athenian Club's gathering 011 Saturday evening, when the last of the fortnightly entertainments was held at the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall. Gaily-designed hats and unique favours were presented to each guest, and many novelties added to the gaiety of the occasion. The Kit Kat Orchestra provided dance numbers, and artistic musical items were contributed by—Miss Kitty Williamson, Miss Miss Beryl Poulton, Messrs. Birch and Prentice, Miss Nina Scott, Master Miss D. Youd. Mr. W. Wright presided, by the Snappy Three (Misses Kitty Williamson, Beryl Poulton, Messrs. Birch and Prentice), Miss Nina Scott, Master Taverner, Mr. Stanley Wrathall, and Miss D. Yond. Mr. W. Wright presided, and an interesting feature of the evening was the presentation of handsome gifts to Mr. Peter Dawson, Mrs. Trask and Miss Laura Walker in recognition of valuable services rendered during the season. Mrs. Newdick wore a black georgette frock, richly beaded in jet and steel; Mrs. Wright,'black jetted ninon with cerise velvet hip bow; Mrs. Trask, black and -white ninon encrusted in crystal; Miss Laura Walker, cyclamen and silver; Mrs. Peter Dawson, pastel green satin, cape to match; Mrs. F. O'Connor, gold Oriental lame and gold lace; Miss Ida Walker, flame georgette and gold; Miss Mortensen, turquoise green georgette, spangled corset: Mrs. Johnson, cherry ninon; Mrs. Munro Emanuel, black beaded georgette; Mrs. Fraser, black chiffon and rhinestones: Miss Elsie Farrell, mauve taffeta and silver lace hem; Mrs. Tyse, shell pink georgette and silver lace; Mrs. J. King, black georgette; Mrs. 0. Richardson,' floral chenille chiffon; Mrs. Curtis, oyster grey georgette, flame velvet wrap; Miss Hazel Rainey, shell pink ninon and lame: Miss Doris. Marmont, lemon chiffon and diamante; Miss Iris Blewden, shell pink taffeta; Miss Beryl Smith, leaf trreen ninon, uneven hem; Mrs. Gilmour, floral lame; Mrs. Peter Franclii, pale blue georgette and silver; Miss fatty Williamson.
