ATHENIAN CLUB.

■ Mr. and Mrs. Norman Newdick were host and hostess at the Athenian Club's gathering 011 Saturday evening, when the last of the fortnightly entertainments was held at the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall. Gaily-designed hats and unique favours were presented to each guest, and many novelties added to the gaiety of the occasion. The Kit Kat Orchestra provided dance numbers, and artistic musical items were contributed by—Miss Kitty Williamson, Miss Miss Beryl Poulton, Messrs. Birch and Prentice, Miss Nina Scott, Master Miss D. Youd. Mr. W. Wright presided, by the Snappy Three (Misses Kitty Williamson, Beryl Poulton, Messrs. Birch and Prentice), Miss Nina Scott, Master Taverner, Mr. Stanley Wrathall, and Miss D. Yond. Mr. W. Wright presided, and an interesting feature of the evening was the presentation of handsome gifts to Mr. Peter Dawson, Mrs. Trask and Miss Laura Walker in recognition of valuable services rendered during the season.
