CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.

METROPOLITAN CLUB.

A series of matches was held by the Metropolitan Gun Club at New Lynn on Saturday. The first match, a 15 birds event for a rosebowl presented by Mr. F. Kav-Stratton. resulted as follows: —C. E. Hodge (18yds) and W. Turner (13yds), the possible. Iu the shoot-off Hodge dropped his first bird, Turner getting his and winning the trophy. Both these were fine performances. Turner shot all his birds with the first barrel and Hodge only used his second once. D. Stoupe (12yds) and E. N. Barratt (18yds) were runnersup with 14 each. The next shoot, was a match between two teams drawn from shooters on the ground, 14 men being in a team and having 15 birds each. Results were as follow :— No. 1 team, 1 r>G ; No. 2 team. 132. In No. 3 sweep of 7 birds each W. Hazard (13yds) won with " : D. Stoupe. A. Brown, and A. Hannigaii tying with 6 each for second. Teams from Hamilton. Morrinsville. Auckland and Metropolitan will shoot for the Reid Cup at Hamilton next Saturday. A practice will be held oil Wednesday afternoon for the purpose of making the final selection.
