AFGHAN THRONE.

Rebel King Flees To Russian Frontier. RETURN OF AMANULLAH ? (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) DELHI, October 11. It is reported that Bacha-i-Sakao, the self-proclaimed rebel King of Afghanistan, has fled to the Russian frontier, and that the majority of his officers were taken prisoner in the dramatic capture of Kabul. The Treasury at' the capital was cleared of its wealth by Bacha before his flight. There is evidence in Afghanistan and in the frontier towns of a stronger feeling in favour of the return of the exKing, Amanullah. Prince Hayatulla Khan and Prince Abdul Majidjan, Amanullah's brothers, who were reported to have been executed by Bacha, were found alive in Kabul. Amanullah abdicated the throne of Afghanistan on January 14 last in view of the military successes of the rebels who had been inspired to revolt because of their opposition to the reforms Amanullah had sought to introduce. His elder ■ brother, Inayatulla, occupied the throne in his stead, but the leader of the rebels, Bacha-i-Sakao, went on fighting. His force attacked Kabul and surrounded the palace, compelling Inayatulla to abdicate after a reign of three clays. Bach-i-Sakao ■ then usurped the throne. An effort to regain the rule over the country was made by Amanullah, but the forces he managed to raise were defeated by those of Baeha, and finally he left the country arid went into voluntary exile at Rome, where is now residing. The war against Bacha, however, has been carried on by General Nadir Khan, formerly Afghan Minister in Paris, and his brother, General Shah Wali Khan. The latter defeated the forces of the rebel King a few J days ago, and recaptured Kabul. '
