A TOTAL LOSS.
Vessel Bound To Samoa From 'Frisco. IDENTITY NOT CERTAIN. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A radio message has been received that the .Bretagne, bound , for Samoa, from San Francisco, wae a total loss. It is assumed that the crew are safe. It is thought that the mysterious S.OiS. received by the Bluff radio station was from the ill-fated vessel. There is some doubt about the ship's identity. She may be a Danish motor ship of 3177 tons, or an auxiliary schooner of 1028 tops. Both are of the same name. ...... Awarua wireless station picked up a very faint S.O.S. The station sent out a message telling other stations to stop working so as not to interfere with the faint signals, but nothing further was heard, though the operators listened for several hours.
