LUXURIOUS PRISONERS.
KA'-DIO TO BELIEVE BOREDOM. Kindly Austria, which imposes such light sentences on persons convicted of crimes of violence, and so often feels so moved with pity at the plight of a murderer in the dock that it acquits him, is distressed to find prisoners suffering from boredom. The remedy, it Mis decided, is radio. It was pointed out some time ago that Austrian convicts, although many of them have society by day, and night, frequently find time hanging heavy on their hands, for almost alone among the world's convicts they enjoy the benefits of the eight-liour day. The governor of the women's prison at Wierner-Neudorf was the first person to interest the .Ministry of Justice in his plan to provide brighter prisons. Now the Ministry has decided to put up ..the necessary money to provide broadcasting entertainment 'for the female convicts.
