GETTING RESULTS.
"We cannot permit the camera's scope to be influenced by the microphone," states Harold Lloyd. "We must have liberty of action. The sound apparatus must be attuned to take in the range of the camera lens. Comedy, to be of the calibre we are accustomed to making, cannot be slowed to compromise with the shortcomings of the microphone. We have found, however, that some of these failings are mythical. In producing comedy we often have been faced with problems that technicians in other branches of the industry might have found insurmountable. Nothing is impossible in comedy, we have proved' many times. The same is true in our sound work. We have learned that we •can do things that previously we regarded as unorthodox and impracticable. But we are doing them nevertheless, "and getting.' the results we are after." ■ '
