RIFLE SHOOTING.

THAMES DEFENCE CLUB. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") THAMES, this day. The annual meeting of the Thames Defence Rifle Club was held this week. It was decided to open the season to-day. The annual report showed there/had been a good attendance each Saturday during last season. Members visited Waihi at Easter and Auckland on Anniversary Day. Return mutches were shot off with Paeroa and with Thames Gun Club. The championship shoot whs won by A. E. Pearson 436. K. Cameron being second with 430, and G. Trebilcock third with 414.
