PAPATOETOE ORPHANS.
ENTERTAINMENT BY RESIDENTS. Children of the Orphan Home, Papatoetoe, were given an enjoyable entertainment last evening by residents of the district. The 85 orphans in the home were provided with a tea at 5 o'clock, the dining room being decorated for the occasion with streamers and balloons, and later with supper. The decorations on the tables included freesias, daffodils, and other flowers in season. A table was set in the centre of the room for birthday children, and was occupied by nine young guests. A birthday cake was a special attraction. A fancy hat was presented to each child. Following the tea a programme of musical items and novelty competitions was given, by the assistance of Miss A. E. Clark's pupils, from Otahuhu. The following were the principal items:— Miss Audrey Willerton, pianoforte solo; Miss G. Ellis, Irish jig; Miss Zoe Richards, recitation; Master C.
