FLOODED COAL MINE
PUMPING RESUMED. COMPLETION IN THREE MONTHS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) !; WHANGAREI, this day. The pumping operations in the Hikurangi Coal Company's flooded shaft were resumed on Sunday last, and most satisfactory progress is being made. A new-generator h.is arrived and is being erected. Until this work is completed two pumps are being used, discharging eome 90,000 gallons of water an hour, and lowering the water level from two to three feet per day. The new drain which is being cut to divert the water is already proving beneficial and will increase in efficiency, as the work proceeds.
The manager hopes to have the men back on the coal in perhaps two, and not more than three months.
