CONSIDERATION OF EXTENSIONS. BOARD OF MANAGERS MEET. That there were already enough pupils attending the school, and that extensions called for early consideration was stated by Mr. 11. S. W. King, chairman of the board of managers of the Seddon Memorial Technical College at their meeting yesterday afternoon. Mr. King said there were already over 1000 day pupils attending the school, and in his opinion the number should not be allowed to increase to any extent before further premises had been acquired. The Auditor-General forwarded the annual balance-sheet without "tags," but with a comment that in the opinion of the Audit Office the credit balance of the profit and loss account had been overstated, and that 110 charge had been made for depreciation. It was decided to consider the matter when the next balance-sheet was drawn up.

A further grant of £100 was approved for the electrical laboratory, at the request of the principal, Mr. G. J. Park.

The Auckland Printing Trades Apprenticeship Committee wrote commending the high standard of work being done by the printing trades classes at the Technical College. Confidence was expressed that the training would be a great asset to the pupils in becoming efficient journeymen.

In a letter from the Auckland Education Board appreciation was expressed of the services of the college in affording opportunities to student teachers to receive special training. The board stated that a letter of appreciation of the college's services had been received from the principal of the Auckland Training College.

The chairman reported that he had been present at a meeting of the school council, and on behalf of the board he had expressed its appreciation of the work being done by the students who were. elected to that body. He had assured them that what they were doing must be of great value in improving the tone and the reputation of the school. The council was composed of equal numbers of senior boys and girls, who were elected by their schoolfellows at the beginning of each school year. The principal supervised their work, but allowed them to act as a selfgoverning body with as little interference as possible from him. The control funds had at present a substantial bank balance. Mr. H. S. W. King was re-elected chairman, and Mr. C'. A. Watts viccchairman. Retiring members of the board, Miss B. Carnachan and Messrs. C. H. Furness, C. A. Watts, and S. E. Wright, were re-elected.
