GOODWILL VISIT.
BRITISH SQUADRON. Five Battleships . Due At . Constantinople. INVITATION OF TURKS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September IS. The battleship Queen Elizabeth, the aircraft-carrier Courageous, three destroyers and the Bryony, the yacht of . the Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Sir 11.I 1 . L. Field, are due to arrive at Constantinople on October 12 for a stay of nine days at the. invitation of the Turkish Government. The arrangements made provide for a visit of the Commander-in-Chief to the Premier, Ismet Pasha, at Angora and for his reception by the President, Mustapha Kemal Pasha, in or near Constantinople. This will be the first occasion on which a British naval squadron will have passed through the Dardanelles since the crisis of 1922. The Queen Elizabeth, flagship of the Mediterranean Fleet, played an important part in the operations agamst the i Dardanelles during the war. The Courageous is Britain's latest aircraitcarrier. She is of 18,600 tons with a speed of 31 knots.
