BACHELOR FLATS. V MANAGEMENT AND MORALS. " ' (To the Editor.) I think the protest of the Rev. P. E. Small, field against the proposed block of bachelor flats show some confusion of thought;■ Hig protest is not against bachelor flats, .but" against the indifferent management of the flats which is presupposed by Mr. Smallfield.for some reason not apparent. It is not reasonable to assume that the proprietors of a valu. able block of flats will let their property deteriorate through poor management.. Further, I believe Mr. Smallfield's statement that flat proprietors differ from boardinghouse pro. prietors in their aims is unfounded. Both have one main object—to make the business pay. And both know that nothing would deteriorate their properties so quickly as a bad name; J therefore suggest that, whatever may be the conclusion to be drawn from other facts, Mr. Smallfield's condemnation for his reason stated is not justified.
