ORAKEI BLOCK.
FIFTY-NINE SECTIONS SOLD. AMOUNT REALISED £47,730. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. An interesting return regarding the Orakei block was tabled to-day to the order of Mr. Jenkins (Parnell). It shows that the purchase price to the natives was £70.184, paid in cash and Treasury debentures. The value paid to the lessee in cash or kind for cancellation of the lease was £33,679. Amounts spent on reading, sewerage, water, reticulation and drainage totalled £300,975. Of that sum £210.459 was spent on the waterfront road and extensions and to the Purewa Bridge. Internal roading, sewerage. water and stormwater drainage cost£S4.sl9. Auckland City Council contributed £210,459 towards the waterfront roat' and associated works. It is estimated there will be 1200 sections. averaging over one quarter acre for the whole subdivision. The date of the first sale was February 15, 1028. Of 135 offered to date only 59 sections have been sold. The amount realised from the sale was £47.730. Amounts paid to the Crown solicitors, agents, and others for services in connection with the purchase totalled £7475.
