NEGLIGENT DRIVING CHARGES. At the Pukekolie Court yesterdar before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., Frederick A. Staig was fined £2 and 10/ cosis each on charges of negligent driving avd. with failing to stop after an accident! Albert Victor Johanson proceeded against ! Staig for the recovery of £30 2/. damapes, and succeeded with his . claim. While engaged on metalling work on the Rangiriri deviation Johanson was struck from behind by Staig's car arid sustained severe injuries, to his right arm. Defend--, ant was also ordered to pay costs amounting to £6 17/6. A fine of £2,and £2 4/ costs was imposed on John Young, on a charge ofnegligent driving. It was that defendant drove a motor.lorry over a. fellow workman on the Rangiriri deviation, breaking the man's leg. It was alleged the accident was due to the driver looking round when the lorry was moving off. A sequel to a fatal accident at Paerata was the appearance of F. C.. Alexander, charged with driving a motor car with only one headlight. Defendant was ordered to pay 16/ costs. D. Morgan, of Tuakau, was fined £1 and costs for taking a pheasant out of a game sanctuary at Pukekawa. The prosecution stated that it was not clear whether defendant shot the bird on the road or not, but he entered the sanctuary with a gun and dog and retrieved the bird. .
