CADETS IN TRAINING.
TESTS IN SHIPS' BOATS.
Harbour boat races were held yesterday between cadets on the N.Z. Shipping Go's steamer Hororata and the Federal liner Northumberland. A crew from the Northumberland won the principal event, a challenge race held with the ships' boats. The course was from the eastern end of Victoria wharf, Devonport,' to a line between the. Central and Queen's wharves, a distance of H miles. After an exciting race the Northumberland's boat crossed the finishing line threequarters of a length ahead of the other. The coxswain of the. winning crew was chaired by Ills jubilant fellow cadets to the ship. „ Earlier in the day two races were held by cadets of the Northumberland from the Sheerlegs wharf, Devonport, to-the Central wharf. The starboard watch first-year cadets won a race against their companions of the port -watchf and the starboard was also the winner in a race Arranged for the junior cadets.
