THAT AEROPLANE. (By Ida Moore, 222, Mount Albert Eoad, a Mount Roskill; age 17.) e "Quick! Quick! Come and eee the aeroplane," someone shouted. Hastily I dropped the potato I had 1 been peeling and hurried out into the r yard. Intently I gazed up into the blue s sky; but no aeroplane could I eee. Quite unconsciously I stepped back. Then • bang! The back of my legs hit a bath I of water (left there for some purpose or other), and in I went! Drenched to the skin, I slowly - scrambled out, while the others, too interested in watching "that" plane, still t gazed upward into the blue void. 1 "Hullo, Ida. See the 'plane fly over i just now?" someone called out. 1 "Aeroplane. That aeroplane," I mumbled, and, not looking to eee who the inquirer was, I disappeared through I the doorway. (By Mervyn Blake, Seddon, Street, Pukekohe; age 14.) Buzz-z-z.— "Look! An aeroplane!" was the excited exclamation of half a dozen children. "Look! He is going higher and higher," exclaimed one, as the 'plane soared upwards till it was a few thousand feet high. Then, without warning, the pilot appeared to , have lost control of the 'plane, as it came down, tumbling, rolling aud diving to earth. With bated breath we watched the 'plane and thought of the poor pilot. It came closer and closer to earth, until it disappeared behind a neighbouring house. We were expecting to hear a crash, when, to our utter amazeinent, he came soaring slowly but surely over the housetops. Cheering loudly, we threw our hats high into the air. It was the most marvellous display of stunting I had ever eeen and will ever wish to see.
