LAWN TENNIS.
LOCAL ASSOCIATION MATTERS. Criticism of the action of the emergency committee in placing an order for balls with Mr. B. W. Griffiths was made by Mr. H. G. Thomson at last evening"s meeting of delegates to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. Mr. Thomson moved, and Mrs. Kitchener seconded, that two members be appointed to negotiate with a view to having the order placed with the retailers' federation. After tracing the history of the ball question, Messrs. F. C. Ellis and D. G. Macfarlane gave the reason for the committee's action. In claiming that the. committee should be supported, Mr. E. L. Bartleet said the motion was practically one pf no confidence. When put to the vote the motion was defeated, and tho action of the emergency committee confirmed. The following interclub committee was appointed : H. T. Goldie, H. Clay, C. Ellis, X. Ingram and J. Robb. Mr. J. Rogers was appointed Auckland delegate to the New Zealand Association.
