CONTRIBUTIONS IN ARREARS, * : c REQUESTS FROM SUBURBS. < The recently-elected Moderator, Rev. 1 W. D. Morrison-Sutherland, presided over : a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery i held yesterday. The assembly treasurer, Mr. V. G. i Chapman, wrote pointing out that for < the year ended June last £4150 was ex- j pected from the presbytery ae its contribution to the Church funds, and only 1 £3843 had been received. A sum of £1690 j was required from the Presbytery before the end of next October, and Mr. Chapman asked that the seriousness of the position be brought under the. notice of congregations. For the year 1929-30, £36,548 was required from the whole Church, and Auckland was expected to provide £4350. Sanction was given for the borrowing of upwards of £600 for the building of a church hall at Mangere East on a site donated by Dame Christina Massey. An application from St. Andrew's s Church, Otahuhu, for permission to pur- i chase a site for a manse at a cost of £300 < was referred to the property committee ] with power to act. i Endorsement was given the proposal ( from the Belmont congregation that it j be raised to the status of a self-support-ing charge, with Key,. Atkins as j moderator. t c Permission was given the students committee to circularise sessions asking j them when arranging pulpit supply that t consideration be given the claims of the theological students in Auckland. Rev. L. H. Hunt submitted recommendations for the celebration in Auckland of the union of the Churches of Scotland, which is to be consummated in Edinburgh on October 2. It was agreed to hold such a celebration in St.'David's on October 2. Presbytery recognition was given Mr. J. Graham as a student for the ministry.
