CONTRIBUTIONS IN ARREARS, * : c REQUESTS FROM SUBURBS. < The recently-elected Moderator, Rev. 1 W. D. Morrison-Sutherland, presided over : a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery i held yesterday. The assembly treasurer, Mr. V. G. i Chapman, wrote pointing out that for < the year ended June last £4150 was ex- j pected from the presbytery ae its contribution to the Church funds, and only 1 £3843 had been received. A sum of £1690 j was required from the Presbytery before the end of next October, and Mr. Chapman asked that the seriousness of the position be brought under the. notice of congregations. For the year 1929-30, £36,548 was required from the whole Church, and Auckland was expected to provide £4350. Sanction was given for the borrowing of upwards of £600 for the building of a church hall at Mangere East on a site donated by Dame Christina Massey. Rev. L. H. Hunt submitted recommendations for the celebration in Auckland of the union of the Churches of Scotland, which is to be consummated in Edinburgh on October 2. It was agreed to hold such a celebration in St.'David's on October 2. Presbytery recognition was given Mr. J. Graham as a student for the ministry.
