SPRING HORSE FAIR.
CAMBRIDGE ANNUAL FIXTURE
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday
The annual spring horse fair organised by the Farmers' Auctioneering Company, was commenced at the saleyards this morning and will be continued on Weduesday and Thursday. The total entries. 500, are not far short of the last year or two. The greater part of to-day's proceedings were with 80 unbroken draughts, and a line of 60 light draughts, broken to lead from a Gisborne station. On the whole to-day, bidding was quite brisk and 3 to 5-year-old good draughts and light farm horses sold up to £35. Good staunch sorts brought round about £18 to £26; less likely sorts. £12 10/ to £17 10/; others, £10 to £12. The entry of horses from Gisborne, brought overland and railed from Taneatua to Cambridge, sold quite well on the whole, the better sorts ranging from £15 to £23 to £30. Others.. £10 to £14 10/.
