1 • i Alfred Bucklaud and Sons report: — To-day at our Westfield fat stock market our beef pens contained 314 head, comprising 169 steers and 145 cows and heifers, as against 244 at last Wednesday's market. The quality of ox beef "was well up to standard, although there were fewer heavy cattle. There was a steady demand, with little or no alteration in values from last week. Extra choice ox sold to 44/; choice and prime ox, 41/ to 43/; secondary aud plain ox, 38/ to 40/; prime young cow and heifer be_ef, 38/ to 42/; ordinary cow beef, 34/ to 37/. No extra heavy prime steers were penned. Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £18 to £19 7/6. the latter price for sters from Waerenga. Lighter prime steers, £16 5/ to £17 17/6; light prime steers, £14 10/ to £16 2/6; small and unfinished steers, £11 10/ to £14 7/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heiiers, £14 to £16. the lastnamed figure ior a Uaikato heifer. Xine cows from the Waikato averaged £15 3/. Heavy nrime cows and heifers, £12 to £13 17/6'; lighter prime cows and heifers, £9 to £11 15/; other killable cows, £6 to £8 17/6. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., report:—To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market beef was yarded in less than average numbers, and taken throughout the quality was not so pood.
