TITIRANGI ROADING. CONCRETE FOR MAIN" ROUTE, WORK ON, OTHER. HIGHWAY. :
Heavy voting resulted in the proposal, to raise a loan of £i 3,000 for roading improvements in the Titirangi riding of the Waiteimata County being carried at a poll yesterday by 459 votes to 10. The total number of ratepayers'• on the roll is 714. ;. .
Details of the voting at the Booths was as follows, the votes against the proposal being given in parentheses:-— County Office, Shortland Street, 322 (2) j Huia Post Office, la (2); Parau Post Office, 10 (0); Titirangi Kiosk, 112 (6). Titirangi Road and Huia are the highways which will involve most expenditure. The former will be reconstructed in concrete, absorbing £0500 of the loan, and tlie metalling of the latter will account for a further £2100. Subsidies, which have been approved by the Main* Highways Board for these two works amount to £23,700, ; of which £19,500 is for Titirangi Road and £4200 for Huia Road. Other roads which, will absorb .the loan moneys arc Otitori Bay Road (£1350), School Road. (£800), and Langholm Road . (£1850); £400 has been allowed for contingencies. Altogether £30,700 will be spent, and. the necessary charge for interest and sinking fund on the £13,000 loan is £1220 a year, representing a rate of 1 l-8d in the £. The estimates cover maintenance of all detour roads used during the reconstruction and surfacing of. the main road to Titirangi.
