KNOCK-OUT CONTEST, After witnessing the sterling performance of the Northland representatives against Auckland, on Saturday, Mr. W. .Montieth, well-known as the donor of the Auckland Rugby League championship shield, decided to donate a trophy to the Northland League for a knock-out competition amongst the senior teams under the Nortliera League's jurisdiction. The visiting officials and players in town expressed great appreciation of the gift. THIRD OPEN FINAL. The final of the third grade open competition excited considerable interest. G. Davis early kicked a penalty goal for Richmond. Dunn, Davis and Stallworthv participated in some fine play up to the interval, before which each team had a shot at goal. Glen Lynn's right-winger and second five-eighths showed up, Hemingson having been previously replaced by Crummer. Richmond displayed better combination, but the great tackling stopped them. Keen club activity in view of the Roope Rooster competition is in evidence and the Kingsland-Athletic Club seems likely to be strongly reinforeed. A meeting of the Mangere club is to be held to approve the transfers, but it is not anticipated there will be any objection. Joe Wilson is a first-class fullback and L. Wilson one of the most -promising of rising five-eighths.
