BROKERS VERY BUSY. MANY LINES MOVING. VALUES FIRMLY HELD. Business on the local Exchange continued brisk after the "Star" went to press yesterday, and brokers evidently started this morning vrith a good bunch of buying orders. The morning call found an unusual number of sales already completed, covering a fairly wide range of investment. With one exception the sales were made on the basis of recent quotations. Wright, Stephenson shares, for which the highest buying offer had been £15/, changed hands at £1 6/6. The last sale of this scrip recorded locally was at £12/ over a year ago. The Noon Call. Additional sales were reported at the noon call, and the general healthy tone was fully maintained. Coal' shares are still in keen demand, and £3 11/ is offered for PukemirOs. Ohinemuri Mining shares have moved up, and buyers are now offering 9/1. Sales were made in June at. 8/. Buyers are offering £15 3/ for Dalgety s £5 shares, and 9/3 for Guarantee Corpora-: tion, paid to 8,/. Interest Rates.
