HINUERA DAIRY COMPANY.

In your issue of July 16 under the heading "Dairy Farmers Heated," you make several \ statements which are contrary to fact, and your statement that I still contend that Mr. Black made money out of manures by buying at cut rates and selling to shareholders at full prices is absolutely incorrect. I have never made such statements to any person, or at the dairy company's meeting, and not having done so I had nothing to withdraw, as I stated at the meeting. The statement I did make was not a libel on Mr. Black in any I way and was either wrongly told to Mr. Black, or he interpreted it wrongly, providing, of course, I am the person that Mr. Black was referring to. You also state that I practically challenged Mr. Black to come outside and fight it out. Now Mr. Black is many years older than I am and I pride myself on not fighting persons years older than myself, and the words I used were, "If you (meaning Mr. Black) were a younger man I would take you outside and settle it." You will see that if the report had been accurately written the position would have been much better both for Mr. Black and myself. C. SCELLY. Hinuera.
