Members of the Harbour Lights Guild of the Seamen's Mission have been organising a jumble sale, and it will be held at St. Matthew's Hall, to-morrow. * * » * Mr. and Mrs. T. Usher, of "Sevenoaks," Nelson, are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Usher, of Jervois Boad, Ponsonby. .They have recently celebrated their golden wedding, and it was their intention to hold a family reunion at Nelson, but owing to their home being practically dismantled as a result of the earthquake, they made the trip to Wellington, where the celebration party took place. ;.» * * » ■'•' Mr. and Mrs. George Winstone, jun., celebrated the twenty-fifts anniversary of their wedding day last Friday, it being the occasion of a family gathering for all available members at their house in Takapuna. Mr. George Winstone, sen., was amongst the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Winstone were the recipients of many handsome gifts, amongst them one from the employees of the firm, one from the managers, and one from the Amalgamated Brick and Tile Co. Telegrams conveying congratulations were received from all parts of the Dominion. * #~ * * A bridge party was given by Mrs. Wilfred Wright, of Heme Bay, yesterday afternoon. The drawing and bridge rooms were artistically arranged with bowls of violets, daffodils and primroses. The hostess received her guests in black georgette, heavily embroidered in steel beads. A party was held on Saturday evening at the residence of Mrs. A. J. Robertson, Spring Street, Devonport, to celebrate the thirteenth birthday of Miss Rona Robertson. The hostess received her guests wearing a frock of rose velvet. Among those present were: Misses Gladys Slacker, Eileen Knox, Elma Web, Alice Quelch. The small guests were: Janet Frater, Joyce Best,, Shirley Roper, Yvonne Riley,- June Sambridge, Valerie Robertson and Beverley Roper. The dining room, where tea was laid, was tastefully decorated with many coloured streamers and balloons, the i birthday cake being a source of great interest to the small guests.

An enjoyable dance was held in the Waitakere Hall on Saturday night, when the sum of £13 was realised for the Auckland earthquake fund. The arrangements were made by a local committee, with the help of the Mayfair Orchestra, who gave their services gratis. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss D. Phelan and partner. The ladies of the Tamaki Yacht Club boathouse committee are working hard to obtain funds for the erection of a combined boat and clubhouse, and have arranged for a series of card parties for this purpose. On Monday, July 17, at her residence, Selwyn Road, Kohimarama, Mrs. Alec Rdid was tne hostess at a very successful and enjoyable evening. Three rooms were filled with players, the winners being: Bridge, Mrs. Basil Clark arfd Mr. Smart; five hundred, Mrs. Clegg and Mrs. Williams; while Mesdames Ansenne and Watkin and Messrs. Nicholas and Walmsley received consolation prizes. Mrs. Hansen was the winner of a competition held during the evening for a cake made and presented by Mrs. Reid. A delightful supper brought the evening to a conclusion. Mrs. Reid was ably assisted by her daughter, Miss Florence Reid, and among those present were: Mesdames Madill, Basil Clark, Stanley Reid, W. Webster, Katterfelt, Crozier, Barnes, Clegg, Hansen, Watkin, Watson, Taylor, Hill, Bradbury, Ansenne, T. Russell, H.
