Dear Everybody, One thousand one hundred and one days ago something very special happened in the lives of juvenile readers of the Auckland Starevent is now known as the birth of the Budget baby. He was hailed with joy then; thousands watched his tottering footsteps develop into sturdy little =aces. Soon he became the mirror in which was seen the reflection of his admirers; to-day he is the product of your own handwork. It has been so pleasing to your captain to see the consistently-riwng standard of work sent in by the readers in outlying The "country section" of the club is truly a "far-flung battle fine, for it would be hard to find a settlement in the North Island which has no "Budget" representative. Especially during this last year have country readers come into prominence and now many of our best and most consistent contributions are wafted on the country breezes. Therefore, in selecting from this field the 1929 Knights and Ladies, your Captain bestows an honour to be shared collectively, rather than . individually.
